Contact lenses are not recommended for people under the age of eighteen. There are various reasons for this, mainly because people under this age are not responsible enough. Although teenagers do not generally pick at their eyes or stuff like that, they do wear a lot of make up. This is especially true for girls, but boys have been known to wear quite a bit of eye make up, as well.
The eye make up can seep into the eye, causing an eye infection. Or, the eye make up can seep in underneath the lenses, causing severe irritation. When this happens, the first reaction is to rub the eye. You absolutely can not rub your eyes when you are wearing Contacts Judge contact lenses.
At the very least, you will cause the lens to move around and possibly lodge in an uncomfortable position. At the very worst, you can cause an infection or cause the lens to move into a position where it is not retrievable.
This means that you will try and try to free the lens. The more you try, the worse you will make the situation. You could actually go as far as lodging the contact lens deep in the back of your eyeball. This will most likely mean surgery.
Retrieving a lens that deeply lodged is not easy. The surgeon may have to take out your eyeball in order to get the lens out. Sounds scary, doesn’t it? Good. Maybe the thought of having your eyeball taken out of your eye socket will prevent you from playing around with your lenses.
You should never mess around with your eyes under any circumstances. They are very sensitive. Can you imagine life without vision? Although many people do not have a choice in this matter. But, when you do have a choice, you should do everything possible to preserve your vision.
Back to the original question – contact lenses are basically a beauty enhancement. Aside from making you look better, there aren’t any advantages over eye glasses. The only exception is keratoconus. Contact lenses have been proven to solve this problem better than eye glasses.
Cases of keratoconus are quite rare. If you do have this condition, then you would be an ideal candidate for contact lenses. But, for every one else, it usually boils down to a matter of looks. People believe eye glasses make them look ugly or old, so they opt for contact lenses instead.
